News

March was busy for us all to say the least

We hosted the men’s shed to a BBQ and Snake in the grass in March to thank them for renewing all the lawn boards. Don’t they look great? And we don’t have to paint them because Michael Love did that for us!

We held a twilight social for members- those who attended enjoyed a game and a drink together on another beautiful evening

Golf croquet training took place over two days – learning some strategies and some cool shots!( dates of last 2 days to be conformed)

The club has been hired several times for social events ( busier then usual ) . This places another burden on our regular helpers but it’s always fun and  keeps our coffers full as well as spreading the news about the club and croquet.

This week’s working bee – 

Wow- how hard our members worked- we look quite shipshape again. Thank you everyone who was able to help.

Bunnings sausage sizzle planned April 5^th

.Lawns and Sprinklers – We have some ongoing issues with the plumbing and watering – hope to have this resolved by the end on April. The lawns have been receiving some extra cutting to remove “thatch” which was slowing them down.  The lawn committee is reviewing ongoing maintenance.

Line Marking

We still need  more helpers- please consider assisting with this.

There is a roster up at the club. Speak to a Committee Member if you would like to learn how.

Communication –  AC players-It’s not too late to sign up for the Whats App group.

Croquet

Association Pennant has started for the autumn season and club  association championships started  in March.

Elwood Croquet Club

We are continuing to work with Elwood to provide a temporary home whilst their club is not operational (about 2 years). This was planned to be starting in July but may be delayed.

We continue to work on ensuring mutual benefit for our members but with minimal disruption. They will mainly play ricochet on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday (after lawn cutting , and we will need to fit in the line marking- all of which they will help with).

Once the memorandum of agreement is  agreed we will share more information. In the interim we are also drafting guidelines for a joint oversight committee to ensure good communication and any issue resolution. This will have equal representation from each club.

Elwood will fund the establishment of a new equipment shed, which will be sited near lawn 1. BCC will retain this shed when Elwood relocates.

AGM- Sunday July 20^th at 12pm –  Please put this date  in your diary!

We will be calling for nominations for committee 2 weeks prior so have a think about how you can contribute.

Holidays

I’m heading OS on April 13^th for 3 months (yes I know it’s a long time!)

Clive Morley will step in as President until May 28^th when he will disappear OS, and Bill Marks will cover until I get back on July 5^th. We have an excellent Committee who will continue to run the club on behalf of all the members

Marguerite Russell
