Club Newsletter October 2024

Hi All,
Committee has just met and discussed various items such as Insurance renewal, child safety policy compliance  and U3A engagement.

Competitions

Brighton won the Heritage challenge again this year- a fun AC competition between Frankston, Sorrento and Brighton- well done everyone.
The Leslie Cavalier AC challenge is still in play and we will commence the Biddy Dodd, Howath Shield and Pinner Cup comps  soon.

Twilights

The run up to the end of the year looks busy but we can always find time for some croquet and socialising.
To this end we think we should hold regular “Twilight Sessions”
We will start on Friday 15th November when we expect about 8 U3A members to come along  for a “social” game and drinks 4pm – 7pm.
Twilights are time for some croquet – any variety – and  BYO drinks and nibbles to share . lets meet informally every Friday
As advised the lawns will be scarified tomorrow- Friday 1st November- if you play over the weekend it will be very sandy and the balls will need to be cleaned.

Oaks Day

The Region event for Oaks day will take place on Thursday 7th November at Brighton. Those members who have signed up will have fun learning to play ‘Snake in the grass”

Event Bookings

On a more serious note, We  have party bookings and will need helpers on the following dates:-
  • Sat Nov 16th,    3pm – about 4 helpers
  • Sat 7th Dec, 1pm -4 pm – 5 helpers
  • Thurs 12th, Dec –  1-530pm  4 helpers to be confirmed
  • Sat 14th, Dec –   afternoon , numbers and times to be confirmed.
Please let us know if you can help show guests around the lawns- either by email or sign up at the club.
We are also looking for a volunteer to be our events coordinator.

Christmas

Most importantly we have set aside Friday 29th November for our Christmas gathering, starting at 4pm
Most likely BYO drinks and a plate to share.
And last  but not least  Saturday December 28th  is our next Bunnings Sausage sizzle fund raiser.

Please put the dates in your diary

Thank you

 Marguerite Russell, President
