BCC COMMITTEE MEETING
The Committee met today, 2nd October 2025. The minutes will be posted on our Website soon, but there are several items that need to be highlighted.
Members’ survey
The Committee is seeking feedback from members on what you think are the Club’s strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for improvement. This is taking the form of a survey that will be available as a hard copy and electronically.
Your feedback is important. It will inform the Committee in its deliberations, prioritizing its actions and inform a review the Committee is conducting of the Club’s Strategic Plan. Any sports club is no more than the sum of its members and everyone’s experiences and opinions are valuable.
The survey will be made available to all members in the next few days. It is self-explanatory with a closing date of 24th October.
Bayside Healthy Ageing/Seniors Festival – 9 & 22 October
A flyer has been circulated promoting the event particularly targeting the apartments close to the Club. The event is also being promoted by the Bayside Council. The success of the events will depend very much on the contribution of Club members. A notice has been placed on the board seeking assistance for the two days and a contribution to catering. Please help out if you can.
Twilight Croquet
The Committee has agreed to reintroduce twilight croquet commencing on Friday 7th November, 4.00 – 6.30 pm. Some very relaxed Golf, Snake-in-the grass and Association croquet will be available to members. Put it in your diaries. There will be more information to come.
Visit by our local State Government MP, James Newbury MP
As a result of an approach from James Newbury, MP’s office, he will be visiting the Club between 11 – 11.45 am on Saturday 25th October to meet with members. If you would like to meet with our local MP please come along.
Association Croquet Internal Competitions
Our Club Captain will be posting notices for the Pinner Cup, Howarth Shield and the Biddy Dodd Cup (all AC events) in the next few days. All three competitions will be completed before the end of the year.
Elwood Croquet Club Update
There has been very little progress (again), but we still expect Elwood to join us early in the New Year. Elwood CC primarily plays Ricochet Croquet, with a growing group playing Association Croquet. We have invited the Elwood AC players to join our regular play on 4 October. While all existing BCC playing schedules are protected when Elwood eventually joins us, it will be a good experience to involve others in our games when possible.
Membership Working Party (MWP)
The MWP has now been established comprising Bill Marks (Chair), David Ryan, Pam White and Jenni Chalker. The Terms of Reference for the MWP are attached.
The Club’s membership now stands at 54, which is very sustainable. However, we must plan for the future and have a clear view of what our priorities are and what our membership should look like over the next 5 years. Members will be provided with opportunities to contribute to the review.
BAYSIDE REGION COMMITTEE AGM
The Annual General Meeting of the Bayside Region Committee was convened at the Brighton Club house on Monday 29th September. It is appreciated that this does not carry much excitement with it, but it is an important body, if for no other reason than it is the only formal connection Clubs have with Croquet Victoria.
The elected office holders are:
- President – Pam Herdman, Elwood
- Secretary – Robin Russell, Brighton
- Vice President – Rhonda Boyle, Sandringham
- Treasurer – Roger Lee, Brighton
- Regional Director, Croquet Victoria, Treesh Reeves, Elwood
- Alternate Director – Minn Stewart, Elsternwick/Brighton
- The BCC delegates to the Regional Committee are Robin Russell and Bill Marks
END OF YEAR FUNCTION
And a reminder that our annual end of year function will be on Sunday, 30 November commencing at 12.00 PM.
Bill Marks
President
